Nene was back in the starting lineup for the Washington Wizards after missing Thursday’s game vs the Memphis Grizzlies, and Saturday’s game vs the Sacramento Kings. Even with Nene’s absence, the Wizards were able to win both games by a total of 36 points.
The reason for Nene’s absence was reported as “personal reasons”, but not it has been clarified that his wife gave birth to twins. For Wizards fans, this is great news, and is a much better reason than they are used to seeing Nene miss games for. There were a lot of scared Wizards fans when they were informed Nene would be missing games, but once news broke of the reason for his absence, a sigh of relief could be felt all around DC.
Drew Gooden III was very productive in Nene’s absence, as he was the starter in both games Nene missed. This should build him some confidence, and get him ready to be more productive in the playoffs than he has been so far this season. Wizards fans do love Drew Gooden, but they are all excited to see Nene back on the court.
