This past season, Nene was a warrior and filled many different roles for the Wizards. Some nights, he was their go-to guy on the offensive end of the floor, others he was a defensive anchor, and in others, he took a lesser role as the team went with a smaller lineup.
Concerning the possibility of coming off the bench next season, Nene seems to prefer his starting role, but would accept a role on the bench. The Wizards know he won’t be the guy to rock the boat or demand a trade, and they could ever offer him a role that provides nearly the same number of minutes.
Following From Washington Post.
“I do whatever I need to do to help the team,” Nene said when asked about coming off the bench. “But you can’t ask me that. You have to ask Coach.”
Even though Nene is willing to accept whatever role is given to him, he should keep the one he already has, starting at power forward for the Washington Wizards. There is never a frontcourt in the league that can out power Washington, and that will not change as long as massive changes do not occur this offseason.
With Nene and the rest of the Wizards back in Washington next season, the team will have an opportunity to compete for a title. All this team needs is one more year to work their magic, and another shot to win it all.
