Neil Patrick Harris has been selected to host the 2015 Academy Awards.
This will be the actor’s first time hosting Hollywood’s biggest event which will take place on February 22, 2015.
“It is truly an honor and a thrill to be asked to host this year’s Academy Awards,” said Harris in a statement. “I grew up watching the Oscars and was always in such awe of some of the greats who hosted the show.”
He will follow Ellen DeGeneres who hosted the show last year with an audience of 43.7 million.
“To be asked to follow in the footsteps of Johnny Carson, Billy Crystal, Ellen DeGeneres, and everyone else who had the great fortune of hosting is a bucket list dream come true,” said Harris.
Harris has had a stellar year as he won a Tony for his performance in the Broadway smash ‘Hedwig and the Angry Inch’ and saw the end of his longtime running sitcom ‘How I Met Your Mother’.
