Hallelujah! Everybody! The NCAA have finally done it! They have actually done their job and have made NCAA College Basketball watchable! It’s a Christmas miracle, and in June of all months.
Yes people the NCAA have made several changes to both the men and women’s college basketball.
The NCAA has approved multiple rule changes to men’s basketball for the 2015-16 season, including a 30-second shot clock and fewer timeouts for each team.
The panel approved cutting the number of timeouts each team can use in the second half from four to three and eliminating some of the extra stoppages by using any timeout called within 30 seconds of a media timeout as the scheduled break. Committee members hope that will eliminate the occasional double timeouts that occur when there is no natural break around the 16-, 12-, 8- and 4-minute marks.
In a change to women’s basketball, the playing rules oversight panel approved using 10-minute quarters starting next season.
Other rule changes include allowing referees to review plays such as possible shot clock violations and diving which should help stop the tragic habit and coaches will no5 be allowed to make timeouts during live ball situations.
I have to say that they have made some great changes. I’m one of those people who found College Basketball boring because of its snail pace, but hopefully these changes will speed things up a little.
