NBA Sunday Featured 5 Big Time Games

Washington Wizards at Atlanta Hawks. Hawks Hammer Wizards 120-89.

The best team in the NBA, even through rumors aplenty of the team’s new owners, continued to show why they are the best in the league with their decimation of the Washington Wizards.

8 members of the Hawks scored in double figures. Kyle Korver led the way with 19 points for Atlanta, DeMarre Carroll had 16, Al Horford scored 15 with 6 rebounds on the day. Paul Millsap and Jeff Teague scored 11 points each with Teague also handing out 10 assists on the day. Pero Antic came off the bench for 12 points and 5 rebounds, Mike Scott scored 11 points with 6 rebounds pulled down and point guard Dennis Schroder scored 10 points.

Wizards struggled throughout the game defensively to slow down the Hawks. Wizards had no problems scoring though as 6 Wizards scored in double figures, but couldn’t catch up to Atlanta. John Wall led the Wizards in scoring with 15 and he also handed out 8 assists along with a ridiculously athletic play in the first quarter. Nene scored 14 while grabbing 6 rebounds, Bradley Beal scored 12 points, Paul Pierce dropped 11 and Marcin Gortat scored 10 points. Kevin Seraphin came off the bench to score 13.

Washington Wizards are 25-12. Atlanta Hawks are 29-8.

Miami Heat at Los Angeles Clippers. Heat beat Clippers 104-90.

Miami Heat continued their West Coast road trip after a loss in their last game and played the Los Angeles Clippers in a Staples Center matinee game.

Chris Bosh led all scorers on the night with 34 points while grabbing 7 rebounds on the day. Dwyane Wade dropped 17 points with 10 assists for the Heat, Luol Deng scored 10 points, and Hassan Whiteside continues to surprise the NBA and its teams with his great performance off the bench, this time he went for a career best 23 points and 16 rebounds.

The Clippers were led by Blake Griffin who scored 26 points and grabbed 6 rebounds on the night. Chris Paul scored 23 points while dishing out 9 assists and J.J. Redick scored 14 points.

Miami Heat are 16-21. Los Angeles Clippers are 25-13.

Phoenix Suns at Memphis Grizzlies. Grizzlies defeat Suns in double overtime, 122-110.

A game that saw regulation end amid some controversy courtesy of a P.J. Tucker layup and a possible violation by Eric Bledsoe saw the game go into double overtime but the Memphis Grizzlies pulled off the double overtime victory.

The Grizzlies were led by a huge 27 point, 17 rebound performance by Zach Randolph who played in only his second game since returning from injury. Mike Conley dropped 25 points, handed out 8 assists and grabbed 7 rebounds to help Z-Bo on the night. Courtney Lee dropped 18 points, Tony Allen scored 12 and Marc Gasol struggled to get anything going, only scoring 12 points on the night but grabbed 9 rebounds.

The 3-headed point guard monster for the Suns struggled as a collective to get anything going. Isaiah Thomas came off the bench to scored 20, which led the Suns, but Eric Bledsoe only scored 11 points on 5-16 shooting and Goran Dragic dropped 11 points only shooting 4-11 from the field. Markieff Morris scored 17 points, Alex Len dropped 14 while grabbing 13 rebounds and P.J. Tucker scored 11 points. Marcus Morris came off the bench to score 11 points while grabbing 9 rebounds and Brandan Wright made his Suns debut scoring 7 points in 15 minutes after being sent to Phoenix from the Boston Celtics.

Phoenix Suns are 22-18. Memphis Grizzlies are 26-11.

Cleveland Cavaliers at Sacramento Kings. Kings beat Cavs 103-84.

The Cavaliers were once again without their star LeBron James, who is slated to being practicing on Monday, and lost their sixth game in 7 tries.

The Kings saw a big performance from a big time player as DeMarcus Cousins came in to drop 26 points, grab 13 rebounds, hand out 5 assists, swipe 4 steals and send back 3 shots courtesy of some big blocks. Rudy Gay scored 23 points on the night, Darren Collison had 16 points with 6 assists and Carl Landry came off the bench to score 11 points.

The Cavs were led by Kevin Love who scored 25 points and also grabbed 10 rebounds, Kyrie Irving scored 21 points with 7 assists and Timofey Mozgov scored 14 points while pulling down 12 rebounds of his own.

Cleveland Cavaliers are 19-19. Sacramento Kings are 16-21.

Portland Trail Blazers at Los Angeles Lakers. Blazers beat Lakers 106-94.

Damian Lillard came out to showoff in front of the Los Angeles Lakers faithful. The California kid threw down a nasty dunk that helped seal the game for the Blazers late in the fourth quarter.

Lillard finished with 34 points on the night while handing out 7 assists. Wesley Matthews had 16 points, LaMarcus Aldridge had 15 points with 9 rebounds and Nicolas Batum scored 11 points with 9 rebounds of his own with young reserve center Meyers Leonard putting in 10 points of his own.

Lakers were without their star Kobe Bryant once again due to a coaches decision and it sure did show. Wesley Johnson led the Lakers in scoring with 17 points, Jordan Hill had 14 points on the night and Carlos Boozer came off the bench to score 13 points. Ronnie Price scord 8 points but handed out 12 assists and Wayne Ellington scored 10 points with 6 rebounds. Nick “Swaggy P” Young struggled to score, shooting 3-11 including 1-8 from 3 and scoring only 9 points.

Portland Trail Blazers are 30-8. Los Angeles Lakers are 12-26.
