Now that we know what team is getting what pick, it’s time to really lock in and really know the prospects inside out.
So that called for ESPN Radio’s Ryen Russilo to go on Grantland and get the scoop on Embiid, Parker, Randle and Wiggins from three anonymous scouts and which opinion Russilo agrees with.
Now you may act like you know the players. But you’re not a scout. Scouts clock in hard hours and go deep into players and their individual and team games.
So what’s special about this post? Well what really caught my eye was the three scouts’ opinion on Andrew Wiggins. We know he’s athletic, we know he can be a good team player when in the right system but according to the scouts. His ball handling skills are weak… Among other things!
Don’t trust his shot or his ball skills. Can’t go left. There is no “fuck you” to him. Kobe’s like, “Fuck you, I’m better than you”.
He is great in transition, but he has no ball skills. All right hand, no idea what to do without the ball.
He needs to forget shooting 3’s.
That’s quite a couple of statements. Now I’m not one to nitpick. But shouldn’t a guard be good at ball handling? I mean ball handling is a fundamental need in basketball. It’s not an optional skill like shooting three pointers. Even 7-footers need ball handling.
Fundamental flaws are nothing to sneeze at. I got to say this is putting me off. But he’s young I’m sure that’ll change in time.
