The NBA salary cap took a massive climb this offseason, allowing for one of the crazier free agency periods in years. The added money gave every team enough room to add top players and even those seen as roe players around the league were paid handsomely.
That doesn’t appear to be the last free agency where something like that happens. The league projects that more added revenue from its new TV deal will lead to another climb in the NBA salary cap next year. In fact, it’s already raising those projections.
NBA teams were informed of a slight change to next season's salary-cap protection, raised to $103 million from $102, sources said.

This past summer saw a cap of about $94 million so the league is projecting an increase of nine million next year. The one million dollar increase that Brian Windhorst mentions may not seem significant, but for some teams, especially those in luxury tax territory, it could save them a lot of money.
Next summer probably won’t be as crazy of a free agency period as this one, simply because the spike in cap space is not as monumental. Nevertheless, it’s a class that boasts several high-level stars and teams having the space to sign them will make for an interesting July.
