In Wednesday’s 120-108 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers, Oklahoma City Thunder Point Guard, Russell Westbrook, flopped after he shot a three pointer near the end of the third quarter. The flop ended up working, as Clippers point guard, Chris Paul, was assed with a personal foul. When seen in the clip above, the flop was obvious, but the trail official must have thought he saw some sort of contact.
There was obvious frustration from Westbrook, as the Thunder were losing 98-83 in a game where he turned the ball over 10 times. Westbrook scored 24 points, had 9 rebounds, and 7 assists in 36 minutes of play.
The league sent down the warning to Westbrook on Thursday after the tough loss to LA. What is surprising is that the punishment was not more than what it was. Westbrook has been known as a player to flop in the past, which gave many to expect a fine. Instead, Westbrook has been let off easy, but the next occurrence could result in a more harsh punishment for Westbrook and even possibly the Thunder.
