With the NBA truly going global, smashing their own records of international players in the NBA (which is now over 100). The All-Star voting scheme has been tweaked a little. For the better. According to SI.com, the NBA All-Star voting ballot has been expanded. Which means that you, the fan could vote for Kendrick Perkins if you wanted to. But then again you ain’t brain dead.
The NBA will now include every player on its All-Star ballot, the league announced on Thursday. The online ballot will be updated every day to reflect D-league call-ups and new signings.
A group of news media had previously selected 60 players per conference for the ballot.
The league also announced that voting for the game will not start until Dec. 11. It had typically started this week, with most teams having played fewer than 15 percent of their schedules. The voting period ends on Jan. 19.
Love it, love it, love it. I found it pointless to vote at this time. I went for Kyrie Irving last year as soon as the ballot opened. I regretted it two weeks later.
“Our players are the most exciting athletes in the world,” president of basketball operations Rod Thorn said Thursday in a statement. “Our choice to include all NBA players is both a tribute to their skills and achievements, and another way to engage our fans in the full experience of NBA All-Star by giving them every option.“
This is getting me so hyped for the All-Star Weekend. The fact we get the freedom to vote for anybody we want is a great luxury to have.
I just hope people don’t take this for granted and vote stupidly. Feel lucky people.
