
Dolph Schayes was named to the NBA’s 50 Greatest list in 1996, he was named an NBA Hall-of-Famer in 1973, he was named an All-Star 12 times, He made six All-NBA first teams and six All-NBA second teams. Schayes was one of the league’s first stars when the BAA and NBL merged to formed the NBA.
Dolph spent his entire 14-year career with the Syracuse Nationals who eventually became the Philadelphia 76ers, moving with the franchise for his final season in the league. His teams were often overshadowed by the dominant and dynastic Boston Celtics, but he did lead the Syracuse Nationals to the 1955 NBA title.
Unfortunately, Schayes has passed away at age 87.

Former Syracuse Nationals legend Dolph Schayes died Thursday morning at the age of 87, said his son, Danny.
The NBA star and Central New York icon was diagnosed with terminal cancer six months ago.
