You know the NBA season is near when we have our daily argument over the results of the NBA GM’s Survey. There are many things that I would like to straight up reject.
The first one is their result on who will win the NBA Championship. They picked the Cleveland Cavaliers. Because, LeBron.
The Cavaliers will win their first NBA championship and James will claim his fifth MVP award in the process, according to results of the NBA.com GM survey released Tuesday.
The Cavs received 53.6 percent of the votes from those responding to the poll, beating out San Antonio (25 percent). Cleveland reached the finals last year before falling to Golden State, which finished third in the poll with 17.9 percent of the votes.
Oh and LeBron will win MVP again?! Alright let’s shut that down.
Two reasons why LeBron won’t win the regular season MVP. The first is because he will take less minutes for the upcoming season, nobody else in the early MVP conversation has that parameter on them, not even Kevin Durant. I get it, LeBron is battling history, not his peers. Regardless, there are too many candidates to just say LeBron and he isn’t the same LeBron that won the other four MVP’s.
The second reason I’ve already touched on. He has way too many MVP calibre players to hold back. Westbrook, Curry, Durant, Harden, Davis, I want to throw DeMarcus in the mix, Paul George maybe. Either Chris Paul or Blake Griffin, they might have a say. Let’s be honest LeBron isn’t going to trump them all.
And as for the Cavs winning the chip, I can’t agree with that. I’m not going to give the injury argument because everyone has that guillotine over their head. I just don’t trust the supporting cast to help LeBron. Simple as that. I have 3-4 teams in the West that are categorically better than them and if any of those four face them in the NBA Finals, you know who I’m going for.
