NBA Finals: San Antonio Takes Game 3 With 111-92 Win; Spurs Lead Series 2-1
The San Antonio Spurs put together a clinic of first half offense to gain a sizable lead that they would never relinquish on their way to winning Game 3 of the NBA Finals 111-92. Kawhi Leonard led the Spurs with 29 points (16 in the 1st quarter). Tony Parker and Danny Green both had 15 points for San Antonio. LeBron James and Dwayne Wade both finished with 22 points for Miami.
San Antonio jumped out to a blazing 41-point first quarter where they connected on 13 of their first 15 shots. That was followed by a 30-point second quarter which gave the Spurs a 71-50 advantage over the Heat at halftime on an astounding 75% field goal shooting. San Antonio’s hot start and the momentum of their balanced attack was best thwarted by Miami during a third quarter run, where the Heat cut their deficit to 7 at 1:59 on a Norris Cole lay-up. They gained a 25-15 edge in the third quarter, but would never fully recover from the Spurs’ efficiency on both ends of the floor.
The Spurs now lead the series 2-1. Game 4 of the NBA Finals is on Thursday at 9 PM EST on ABC.
