Kobe Bryant is great, we all know that. Even the haters know that. But unfortunately, to get to where he is today and to get anywhere in life, some bridges have to be burnt and we know that Kobe has had his fair share of lighting relationships up.
Now let’s not get it twisted, he is not the only person that burns bridges, it’s just that it’s clear that for the past 2 decades, Kobe has been about the Lakers and if you don’t wear purple & gold, go kick rocks.
This mentality won’t exactly help Kobe if he leaves the Lakers next year. Some executives around the league know this very well.
“The problem that Kobe has that’s different from anybody else is that he doesn’t really have any allies in the league,” an executive said. “He’s only known the Lakers, and he destroys everything in his path. I’m not naming names, but some of his former coaches are probably not going to speak fondly of him. [But] you really limit yourself of places that he could possibly go. I don’t know of anybody who in their right mind would say getting him in their organization would be a great idea.“
In terms of being a teammate, it’s obvious that Kobe has more enemies than friends. The reason why the Knicks seem so applicable is because Phil Jackson and Derek Fisher are there. But have we asked the players if they want to play with Kobe?
It’s something to think about, personally I think it’s either Lakers or retirement. Those are the only things I can see happening for Kobe.
