Summer of 2015 in the NBA could be an entertaining one. The teams might be more than willing to shell out some money now due to the fact that the cash they will be able to spend going into future years will be plentiful. The NBA salary cap is going up so teams might be more than willing to spend money, more than ever and maybe give out some crazy contracts.
Two guys that will get paid, no matter what, are a pair of power forwards looking to possibly make a move towards a new team. Cleveland Cavaliers forward Kevin Love, who has said he would return to Cleveland, and Portland Trail Blazers big man LaMarcus Aldridge, who has been seen visiting different cities already, could be the top names to change teams this season.
Following from ESPN’s Brian Windhorst.
Of all of the high-profile free agents this summer, executives still believe Love and LaMarcus Aldridge are the likeliest to be willing to change teams.
One guy leaving could happen more than the other. Kevin Love going anywhere, fresh off having a serious shoulder injury, might not be the most beneficial for his career and it might have an affect on his future money. Sticking around to get what’s guaranteed could be the safe bet. Cavs GM David Griffin has stated that it is expected for both Love and LeBron James to opt out, but both players are expected to return. Love continues to push that he will come back and why not? The team got as far as they did this season without him, so getting him back next season could be huge for a championship run. The rumors all season of his departure could just end up being that. Rumors.
On the other side, there seems to be more and more evidence to support LaMarcus Aldridge leaving the Trail Blazers. He put his Portland home up for sale, he’s visited Boston and he has a certain German forward willing to let Aldridge come in and help lead the Dallas Mavericks to another championship.
Either way you twist it, something will be happening summer with one or both of these big men. There’s no way both of them stay with their current teams unless something drastic happens.
