The highly anticipated 2015 Sprite Slam Dunk contest is just a few hours away. While this years event will not feature Vince Carter’s elbow dunk or Michael Jordan’s free throw line dunk, it will include some young high flying NBA talent. But first some highlights from previous dunk contests.

The overwhelming favorite to win the event is Zach LaVine (-140). The rookie out of UCLA is a tremendous athlete to say the least posting a 41.5 vertical at the NBA combine. Teammate Andrew Wiggins is on record for saying
“You guys are in for a surprise,” he said. “Trust me. It’s going to be crazy.”
If LaVine were to win he would be the second youngest to ever do so (Kobe Bryant 18 in 1997). The world cant wait for this EPIC SURPRISE!
Then there is the Greek Freak who will be representing the Milwaukee Bucks. Giannis Antetokoumnpo is looking to become the first international player to win the event. The Bucks also have failed to have a winner within the franchise. Giannis is a +245 underdog to win the dunk contest.
Rounding out the field is Mason Plumlee (Brooklyn Nets) and Victor Oladipo (Orlando Magic). Both are members of the 2013 draft class along with Giannis Antetokoumnpo. All three players have made great strides during their second seasons. Plumlee is a huge underdog at +800, while Oladipo is a +350 underdog. Plumlee will be representing the hometown Nets and will be looking to become the first Net to win the trophy since Dr. J in 1976.
