So the All-Rookie first and second teams are in and straight off the bat how Ben McLemore didn’t get into at least the second team is beyond me. But hey, they all deserve it and there’s always snubs for things like this. Here’s the first team…
Michael Carter Williams – Philadelphia 76’ers: Rookie of the year. No surprise, 125 first team votes. It was a lock.
Victor Oladipo – Orlando Magic: Again another lock, second place in the ROY voting. 124 first team votes.
Trey Burke – Utah Jazz: Even though he had an injury plagued start, he came back and showed his Wooden award winning play and got my vote for the ROY. 108 first team votes.
Mason Plumlee – Brooklyn Nets: When Brooklyn got injury problems. “Plums” came to save the day. Worthy first team player, 95 first team votes.
Tim Hardaway Jr. – New York Knicks: To me, I consider Hardaway Jr to be the silver lining of the Knicks, not just for the past season but for the future (if he stays that is). Granted he’s a little raw but next season I’m sure he’ll improve. 87 first team votes.
That’s a good first team and are full of maybe All-NBA players…
For the second team we have Boston’s Kelly Olynyk, Milwaukee’s Giannis Antetokounmpo, T’Wolves’ Gorgui Dieng, Charlotte’s (now Hornets) Cody Zeller and OKC’s Steven Adams.
Honourable mentions include McLemore with 63 votes, Pero Antic with 62 and Anthony Bennett with 1… That’s right, Anthony Bennett who had a worse PER as a Rookie than Kwame Brown got a vote…
But hopefully Cleveland won’t screw up with their FOURTH no.1 pick since 03.
