The Washington Nationals are 9-13, sitting four games back of first place, and they just lost one of, if not their best, starting pitchers. Stephen Strasburg will miss the remainder of the 2020 season after having to undergo surgery for carpal tunnel, which has been causing issues. The 2019 World Series MVP has only made two starts during the 2020 season, and will now head to the Injured List (IL).
Stephen Strasburg has been put on the 60 day IL, which means his 2020 season is over.

Strasburg recently visited a hand specialist about the carpal tunnel diagnosis, which has subsequently ended his 2020 season. Looking at his on-field product, Strasburg made two starts, collectively throwing only five innings for the Nationals. In his five innings, Strasburg gave up eight hits, only walked one, punched out two, but allowed six earned runs.
It seems that the best plan of action for Strasburg to alleviate his carpal tunnel neuritis is this surgery. He has not been right at all during the 2020 season, and he now finds himself on the IL. The next biggest question is if the 2019 World Series champion, Washington Nationals will be able to survive.
They are looking to repeat as World Series champions, but given they are in fourth place, there is not a great outlook for them. If the organization does not turn things around, they may be screwed, but given their starting pitchers’ health issues, it will not be easy. They still have a chance to turn things around, but it will be a steep climb for the Nationals.
