We will see a bit of a shift in Season 4 of Narcos. Not only will the focus shift from Columbia to Mexico, but we’ll be seeing drug cartels that formerly were known just as big-time weed dealers move from selling the Devil’s Lettuce to snow-white. New trailer here:
November 16th we’ll be seeing a new cartel with new rules. In history, Mexico’s cartels have been listed as some of the most dangerous gangs in the world. In 1980 Mexico, DEA agent Kiki Camarena (Pena) arrives at Guadalajara to “meet the snakes” of the drug trade. The top of his list? The Rockefeller of marijuana, Miguel Felix Gallardo (Luna). In case you didn’t know, this season will cover the rise of the Guadalajara cartel and how they rose to the top of Mexico’s cartel food chain. One factor that will make or break this show will be Michel Pena and his performance as the FBI agent trying to shut down the operation. In the trailer, it seems Pena goes undercover and gets in some trouble early. If he can offer a less humorous and more serious performance than he usually does in his roles, we’ll be seeing a step forward in his acting career.
Despite changing the pace and characters of their show, Narcos has found a way to always keep things fresh, entertaining and beautifully evil. In a way, you fell in love with the brutality of Pablo Escobar. You saw his downfall. You saw the rise of the 4 brothers cartel and now we see the show focus on Mexico.
If moving to Mexico means anything for the Narcos franchise, it means we’ve moved one step closer to getting El-Chapo.
