Black Lightning‘s Nafessa Williams returned home this week to partner with a local Boys & Girls Club in Philadelphia. Williams and her Black Lightning co-star, Marvin Jones III, met with approximately fifty kids from the city on Monday. The two television stars spoke to the kids about being smart, passionate and following their dreams.
Williams told CBS 3 in Philadelphia, “Just to know that I came from the things that took place and that anything is possible and I can never say that enough.” She added, “I’m a fearless dreamer. I feel it is my purpose to encourage everybody else to follow their dreams fearlessly because I believe that is when life begins.” She closed by stating, “All things are possible.”
The meet and greet was part of the ongoing “Local Hero” initiative. Led by the Boys & Girls and Girls Club of America and The CW, the initiative brings celebrities and leaders to meet with children in their hometowns.
Black Lightning concluded its second season Monday, March 18th on The CW.
