Joey Bada$$ has delivered his first release since 2017 with The Light Pack. The three track project features Pusha T and production from Swizz Beatz and Statik Selektah.
Beyond the music, the creative direction of the art that accompanies the album is spiritual. The cover features the Brooklyn native surrounded by women wearing all white as he reaches towards the heavens. Each track on the cover is related to the mind, body or soul.
Shortly after releasing the project, the rapper expanded upon the spiritual significance of the project by releasing “The Light” video. The newly released visual spotlights the New York native taking part in a religious ceremony.
“On June 16, 2020, I chose to partake in a traditional voodoo ceremony in search of rebirth. My purpose with this visual is to inspire Black people to realize their power and take it back, as I did. Don’t be afraid of who you are, that’s their job. We are magic,” he wrote.
