Muhammad Wilkerson struck a deal on a new contract with the New York Jets to beat the Franchise Tag deadline. Wilkerson will now be one of the highest paid defensive players in the league. Unfortunately for Jets fans ins they may have to wait a little longer than expected to see him.
Rich Cimini of ESPN reports Wilkerson is still rehabbing and likely to start training camp on the physically unable to perform list. The Jets all pro defensive lineman suffered a broken leg in week 17 of last season. Obviously if there was any concerns the Jets wouldn’t have singed him to a mega contract. He is expected to make a full recovery by the time of the start of the season.
This report however indicates the injury was more severe than previously stated. Big Mo will likely be limited during the preseason. The Jets season opener is set for September 11th.
