Moses Malone, Jr. is suing Houston Rockets guard James Harden, according to Isaiah Carey of Fox 26. Malone, the son of the late, former Rockets great of the same name, is claiming that Harden orchestrated a robbery of him.
Malone’s allegations are as follows. He believes that the MVP-candidate was angered by Malone’s Facebook post ranting about the high prices of Harden’s basketball camp. Malone next asserts that Harden paid $20,000 to robbers who attacked and beat him and stole between $15,000 and $50,000 worth of jewelry at a strip club (h/t Sports Illustrated).
Four arrests have been made in the robbery case. According to police reports, one of the men charged had told Malone that he deserved to be punished for disrespecting Harden, although police have not made a connection to the Rockets’ guard yet.
Harden’s lawyer issued the following statement after the newest reports, via Carey:
I am in Boston for depositions so I haven’t seen the petition but I have previously discussed Mose’s allegations with James and others, and I am totally comfortable that the allegations are untrue. Unfortunately, I am afraid this is just another example of people shopping for a deep pocket when they find that the people actually responsible have no money.
Obviously, this is all a vague and ongoing case. We will continue to keep you updated as more details emerge.
