Warner Bros. has opted to push back the release of Mortal Kombat. Instead of debuting April 16, the film will hit HBO Max on April 23.
“MMA fighter Cole Young is unaware of his heritage – or why Outworld’s Emperor seeks to hunt him down. Cole finds sanctuary under Lord Raiden and prepares to stand with Earth’s greatest champions against the enemies of Outworld in a high-stakes battle for the universe. Will Cole be able to unleash his arcana in time to stop the Outworld once and for all,” the official description reads.
Lewis Tan, Josh Lawson, Tadanobu Asano and Jessica McNamee will star in the film. E. Bennett Walsh, Simon McQuoid, James Wan and Todd Garner will step in as producers. Greg Russo and Dave Callaham put together the screenplay.
Mortal Kombat is the latest Warner Bros. movie to hit HBO Max. Last month, Godzilla vs. Kong hit the streaming service. Later this year, King Richard, The Many Saints of Newark and Space Jam: A New Legacy will also debut on HBO Max. Check out the Mortal Kombat trailer before it hits theaters later this month.
