Pelicans coach Monty Williams told reporters before Fridays games versus the Sacramento Kings that he expects his 2013 All-Star point guard Jrue Holiday to return sometime this season.

“I don’t think he’s going to be out for the rest of the season,” Williams said. “I’ve watched his workouts for the past few times he’s been on the floor. He’s doing more and more. Can I give you a date? No. But, we only have so many games left. Lord willing, we’ll have a lot more after the regular season is over. But the way I’m watching him ramp up his workouts, I wouldn’t be surprised if he was back next week or so.”
Coach Williams really wants his point guard back considering they are still fighting for a playoff spot. With Holiday being out of the lineup since Jan 12. with a lower stress fracture in his right leg, the Pelicans have missed his veteran leadership and his perimeter defense especially. Williams has even started creating a minutes plan for Holiday upon his return.
When Holiday spoke with reporters he reiterated to the media he has no idea when he’ll return and that he’ll continue to be patient with his rehab.
#Pelicans Holiday said Friday he wants to proceed with caution after having a setback with injury in trying to return after All-Star break.

With the news on Kevin Durant today, the Pelicans still have a chance to catch the Thunder at the eight spot. Holiday coming back will definitely make that journey a tad easier. Until then Anthony Davis and Tyreke Evans will continue to lead the way for the Pelicans.
