After a long week of back and forth between Drake and Pusha T, we are all more knowledgeable about multiple sclerosis. Pusha T most notably rapped, “OVO 40 is hunched over like he’s 80/That man is sick, sick, sick.” OVO collaborator and Drake’s childhood friend, Noah “40” Shebib has long battled multiple sclerosis, a disease in which the immune system eats away at your nerves. Earlier this week, 40 tweeted out that World Multiple Sclerosis Awareness Day was this week. Today, another high profile entertainer affected by the diseases reminded us all how scary multiple sclerosis can be.
Montel Williams was reportedly hospitalized after a workout in New York City. While Williams has battled with multiple sclerosis, his spokesperson has denied that it was the cause of his hospitalization. In a written statement, a spokesperson from Williams’s camp wrote, “Anyone who knows Montel knows that he is an exercise enthusiast. Yesterday, he overdid it, and has been admitted to the hospital out of an abundance of caution. He is doing well and anticipates being discharged soon.” Williams’s spokesperson also added, “In the coming days, as he always has, he will tell his story himself. Until then, we respectfully ask that his family’s privacy be respected.” The statement closed with the family expressing their gratitude for the public servants that helped get Williams to care immediately following the incident.
