The former candidate for the President of the United States, Mitt Romney, is set to box against the only 4-time Heavyweight Champion of the world, Evander Holyfield.
For charity, of course, because Holyfield vs Romney in a real fight, might not go too well for Romney’s face.
Following from Paul Rolly of the Salt Lake Tribune.
I’ve learned the real reason why Mitt Romney chose not to run for president for a third time in 2016.
He’s taking up boxing.
In fact, Romney is slated to fight former heavyweight boxing champion Evander Holyfield in the marquee event during a several-bout evening at the Rail Event Center near the Union Pacific Depot in Salt Lake City on May 15.
“It will either be a very short fight, or I will be knocked unconscious,” Romney quipped in an interview recently. “It won’t be much of a fight. We’ll both suit up and get in the ring and spar around a little bit.”
Alas, it will be a one-fight career for the 68-year-old former Massachusetts governor and Salt Lake City Winter Olympics boss.
“It [Charity Vision] operates on about a $1 million annual budget,” Romney said. But the foundation is able to oversee about 40,000 surgeries a year in developing countries around the world. That’s about $25 per surgery.
It’s definetely a great thing to see these 2 powerful people in the world of both politics and sports lacing up the gloves and going at it, even if it will be staged.
Who knows, maybe Romney tries to take a bite out of Holyfield’s ear and Evander just knocks him out.
Many democrats could only hope.
