The Los Angeles Lakers are primarily ran by Mitch Kupchak, Jim and Jeanie Buss. Now of course we watch the games and go “what are they running?” but as we know. Business doesn’t have a bed time. And whenever we hear about the Lakers and a bad business decision. Everybody points their finger at Jim Buss. But in a piece by Thomas Golianopoulos of Grantland, Mitch Kupchak wanted to set the record straight. Saying it’s not just Jim pulling the strings.
“Unfortunately, Jim does get a lot of criticism. But no decision is made here without me,” Kupchak says. “If something doesn’t go right, I should be criticized as much as Jim. We are judged, by and large, by our success on the court, and that has to do with the draft, trades, and free agency, and Jim and I decide who we draft, who we trade, and who we pursue in free agency. In terms of talent on the court, by and large that falls with me, and I work very closely with Jim. But Jim trusts my instincts. Sometimes they are good and sometimes they are not good.”
I’m so glad we know who to blame if the Los Angeles Lakers screw it up again. Thanks for clearing that up Mitch.
I hope that they’re on the same page. Because the time to rise again is now. The have picks, they have cap room. Time to take action.
