I don’t know about you guys, but I enjoyed Katy Perry’s half time show during Super Bowl XLIX. From her performing her hit records to bringing out Lenny Kravitz and Missy Elliott even getting her time to shine with performing three of her hit records in ‘Lose Control’, ‘Get Your Freak On’ and ‘Work It’.
Ultimately, Missy stole the show, in my opinion. Honestly if you weren’t excited to see Misdemeanor perform we can’t talk music.
Here is the interesting part of why we are here, just like Paul McCartney when Kanye West released ‘Only One’, fans of this generation of music assumed she was a new artist (insert emoji straight face). Missy laughed it off as she took to her twitter to talk about it.
Unconsciously this worked out in her favor.
Missy hasn’t dropped an album in 10 years but since her SB performance, her spotify stream has shown an unprecedented 676% increase overall with ‘Lose Control’ pulling in a remarkable 1,396% increase, WOW.
Not only did Spotify show an increase, ‘Get Your Freak On’ and ‘Work It’ have increased in download purchases on iTunes moving to the top fourth and fifth spots. Kudos to you Missy. Lastly we have also been treated with the news that Missy is working on something with Skrillex and Diplo.
Looks like a win in my books, I look forward to seeing what is being cooked up soon.
