
In an official statement that he released through the local website ‘BHBasket’, Bosnian forward Mirza Teletovic communicated his decision to retire from basketball and to pursue a career inside Bosnian basketball federation. ‘My life without basketball is not life’, Teletovic wrote in his statement. The former Bucks player has accepted the suggestion received by Nihad Selimovic, owner of Bosnian side KK Spars and one of the most important personality in Bosnian basketball, and will become a candidate for the board of directors of the Bosnian basketball federation. If Teletovic will be elected, by November he may become the president of the federation, considering the rotation system used in Bosnia.
Teletovic only played 10 games last season with the Milwaukee Bucks. He suffered a knee injury in November and was originally sidelined for four weeks. But in December Bucks sidelined Teletovic indefinitely due to pulmonary emboli in both lungs. Teletovic’s condition was discovered by Bucks medical staff when the player started to experience unusual fatigue during training. The Milwaukee Bucks, then, waived the player in March, basically ending his professional career.
During his NBA career, Mirza Teletovic also played for the Phoenix Suns and the Brooklyn Nets. Before the NBA experience, Teletovic spent several years playing overseas in Europe. His most successful experience overseas was with Baskonia in Spain, where Teletovic six seasons and in which he won two ACB titles and three Spanish Supercups. With Baskonia Teletovic also took part in two Euroleague Final Four, in 2007 and in 2008.
