Though injuries are always a part of a long, grueling NBA campaign, they seem to be even more rampant than usual this season. We’ve seen numerous players sidelined with various ailments and that list continues to expand with the addition of Milwaukee Bucks forward Mirza Teletovic.
The team announced that Teletovic recently underwent arthroscopic knee surgery and is expected to be out of action for 4 weeks:
Milwaukee Bucks forward Mirza Teletovic underwent successful arthroscopic surgery today to repair cartilage in his left knee. The surgery was performed by Dr. David Altchek at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York under the supervision of Bucks team physician Dr. William Raasch. Teletovic is expected to be sidelined for four weeks.
With the Bucks contending for a top seed in the improved Eastern Conference, they will need all hands on deck to stay in the upper tier, especially with the Cleveland Cavaliers starting to turn things around. Though Giannis Antetokounmpo has played at an MVP-level early on and the addition of Eric Bledsoe adds another dynamic offensive element, depth eventually pays major dividends towards the latter parts of the season.
Though Teletovic has never been a primary option, the 6’9″ veteran does provide spacing with his ability to hit the three from the power forward position. His perimeter shooting complimented this young, athletic Bucks team very well and his presence in the second unit will surely be missed.
On the season, Teletovic has posted an average of 7.1 points per game in just 10 appearances while shooting a blistering 46.7 percent from beyond the arc.
