Well, that was fun while it lasted. The defending champion Golden State Warriors finally suffered their first loss of the season on Saturday at the hands of the Milwaukee Bucks. The Warriors had previously won 24 straight to start the season, breaking the previous record. They did, however, fall short of the record for the longest winning streak in NBA history at 33 games.
On the second night of a back-to-back and the end of a seven game road trip, the Warriors finally fell short, losing 108-95. With fatigue setting in and having no real answer for Greg Monroe in the low post, the Warriors were unable to pull through unlike several other close games.
The Bucks got several big performances including a triple double from Giannis Antetokounmpo and a monster 28-11 line from Monroe. The effort gave the Bucks a monumental win to perhaps spark their season which outside of this win has been somewhat disappointing.
Meanwhile, the Warriors will look to start another streak and with the way they’ve played all season, it would not be surprising if the next one competed with the length of the now broken one.
