Hours after learning about the passing of his mentor Buddy Ryan, Mike Singletary is returning to the NFL.
The former Bears hall of fame linebacker shared the news on his new role with the Los Angeles Rams. Singletary told WSCR-AM in Chicago that he will serve the Rams in an advisory role.
Singletary was last seen on the sidelines during the 2013 season as a member of the Vikings coaching staff. Previously he spent time as the 49ers head man from 2008-2010. His record as a head coach is merely mediocre at 18-22 but his on field knowledge could prove valuable to a young Ram defense. His knowledge can be seen on display at the East-West Shrine game in recent years.
The former Bears linebacker suited up for Chicago from 1981-1992 serving as the heart and sole of the Bears. That passion eventually lead to a Super Bowl win in 1985 under the teachings of Buddy Ryan. He is considered one of the greatest linebackers in NFL history.
