The Denver Broncos are finishing up a deal that will name Mike McCoy the new offensive coordinator. This comes just minutes after the new of Wade Phillips departure. Denver area reporter Mike Klis of 9News was the first on the news.

McCoy was looking for a new home after being fired by the Chargers. McCoy interestingly enough will make his return to Denver as he spent time with the Broncos from 2009-2012. During those years he spent time grooming Kyle Orton, Tim Tebow, and Peyton Manning as his quarterbacks. This time he will get a new challenge as Trevor Siemian and Paxton Lynch will battle for the job. This Broncos team has a very different looking coaching staff in 2017.
McCoy will work under new head coach Vance Joseph who is very much a defensive-minded guy. McCoy will be handed the keys to the offensive in Mile High. His zone-read attack helped the Broncos go 13-3 giving him the opportunity to pursue head coaching jobs that offseason.
