The Sacramento Kings fired Michael Malone back in December of 2014. Malone still refuses to wear the color purple, as do his wife and daughters, he told ESPN’s Zach Lowe on The Lowe Post podcast. Transcribed by BSN Denver’s Dan Fatiago:
On not wearing purple since the Kings fired him:
“I have not. What I really love about that is it’s my wife’s favorite color and she hasn’t (worn it) and my daughters haven’t. It’s almost become a taboo forbidden in our household.”
This seems a tad over-dramatic to me. This was almost two years ago, and Malone has a new job as head coach of the Denver Nuggets. I think you can tell your wife to go ahead and wear her favorite color. Maybe don’t wear any Kings’ gear, but the color itself seems pretty harmless.
