If the Chicago Bulls offer Mike Dunleavy a contract this off season, he would definitely return to the team. After the Bulls lost to the Cleveland Cavaliers last night, Mike Dunleavy told reporters he wants to return to the team next season, and K.C. Jackson of the Chicago Tribute reports him saying,
“I would love to be back.”
Dunleavy’s two-year deal expired when the Bulls season ended last night because the Cavaliers knocked them out of the playoffs. Over Dunleavy’s time in Chicago, he started 124 games, and he averaged 10.2 PPG and shot 39% from three.
The Bulls may not resign Dunleavy because it will be hard for them to find money to spend on him. The Bulls already have $60 million committed in guaranteed salary for next year, and they will need to resign key free agent Jimmy Butler, who will definitely want a maximum contract from the team.
The Bulls may not need Dunleavy next year as they have Doug McDermott and Tony Snell to fill his shoes. These two young players have tremendous upside, and they will probably see a lot more time on the floor next season if the Bulls decide to not resign Mike Dunleavy.
