In what could be classified as a questionable move, Michigan State freshman Deyonta Davis has declared for the 2016 NBA Draft. In a statement from Michigan State, the freshman has elected to leave school and enter the draft despite not getting a substantial amount of playing time as a freshman.
Following from the Detroit Free Press.
Deyonta Davis is leaving Michigan State. The school announced this morning that the freshman will enter the NBA draft and sign with an agent, effectively ending his college career.
“The information that came back made me decide to enter the draft,” Davis said in a release from MSU. “It was a tough decision, but after talking to my family and coaches, I felt it was the right decision and one I’m fully committed to.”
Davis is a forward standing at 6-foot-10 weighs in at 240-pounds. He averaged 7.5 points and 5.5 rebounds in his lone season with the Spartans but he set the school freshman record with 64 blocked shots, second-most in a season in program history.
What’s his projections? Well, Tankathon has him as a lottery pick, NBADraft.net doesn’t currently have him as a pick in the 2016 NBA Draft, USA Today has him going 20th and you see for yourself where we put him in our mock draft.
