We all know of Cooper’s “racially insensitive” comment made on camera last season. For those of you who don’t:
His use of a racial slur made him both a league office and opposing player target; and seemingly the only reason Cooper is still playing at all is because of Michael Vick.
“We had guys talking about knocking him out, taking his head off, doing X, Y and Z to him on the field, and none of that happened, out of respect for myself I think.”
Sufficed to say, Cooper owes Vick both his life and career. Reportedly however, Cooper has behaved as if nothing happened whatsoever.
After landing a 5-year, 25 million dollar deal with the Eagles, Cooper cut ties with Vick despite him reaching out. While not one to hold grudges, Vick insists that if the roles were switched, he’d have Cooper on speed dial.
“After he signed his contract, I sent him a text and I never got a text back.”
“He played good football last year and he has always been like a little brother to me. But money should never change an individual.”
