Just a few short days after high school basketball star Michael Porter Jr requested to be released from his letter of intent at the University of Washington, the top recruit has made a choice about his future school. He will be headed to Missouri Tigers next year. His father recently accepted a position on new head coach Cuonzo Martin’s staff.
Porter made the announcement official on his Twitter account.

Porter will indeed be heading home. He is originally from Missouri but played his senior year in Washington under former NBA All-Star Brandon Roy, who was his head coach on the Nathan Hale Raiders.
Both Roy and Porter were honored with national awards presented by Gatorade following their fantastic season which included a state title, an undefeated record (29-0) and national No. 1 ranking. Porter will be playing in the McDonald’s All-American game and this past season he averaged 36.2 points per game, 13.6 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 2.4 blocks for the Raiders.
For a Missouri team that posted a horrible 8-24 record last season, adding Porter to the roster for at least one season could change the fortunes of Missouri forever.
