Perhaps the greatest legacy that Michael Jordan left behind was Space Jam. Now, LeBron James will likely, albeit not officially, be following in the GOAT’s footsteps by becoming the star of Space Jam 2.
We do not know all the details about the sequel just yet. Other than JR Smith’s potential inclusion, most everything about the movie is a secret.
But now we do know something else: Jordan had a different name in mind for who should be the star following him. No, it’s not LeBron James, a three-time champion and arguably the best player currently in the league. No, it’s not Kwame Brown, as one kid at Jordan’s camp boldly yelled out at the man who drafted him.
Instead, Jordan said his handpicked successor would have been Blake Griffin:
Is this beef between the GOAT and the player who may be the closest to surpassing him? Is Jordan trying to protect his legacy as the greatest basketball player we have ever seen by preventing LeBron’s Space Jam endeavors?
All jokes aside, Blake Griffin would probably be the choice for many people. He has enough star power and he’s probably the funniest player in the NBA. Griffin would do well in that setting and has expressed his interest.
But alas, we are left with LeBron, he of three championships and Trainwreck.
