A start to a young career that included a Rookie of the Year award seemed to be a good way to kick-off your tenure with a team and you’d assume that player would be the one any squad would build around.
Seems like the Philadelphia 76ers had different ideas with the 2014 Rookie of the Year, Michael Carter-Williams, after they traded him in a deal that saw MCW sent to the Milwaukee Bucks.
It seems like Carter-Williams won’t wait long to try and exact revenge against his former team because the first game he will play for the Bucks will be against the 76ers after he returns from a toe injury.
From Charles F. Gardner of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel:
Newly acquired Milwaukee Bucks point guard Michael Carter-Williams said he plans to make his debut on Wednesday night against his former Philadelphia 76ers team. …
After the game Carter-Williams, who has been out with a sprained right big toe since joining the Bucks in a three-team deal at Thursday’s trade deadline, said his inactivity was about to end.
“I’ll be playing next game,” Carter-Williams said. “I don’t know how many minutes I’ll be playing.”
Carter-Williams returning to the Bucks to take on his former team is a great little story for him to try and get some redemption and exact some revenge. Carter-Williams needs to develop still, he’s young and really can’t shoot at all.
Michael Carter-Williams needs to play as well as possible considering it being his first game with a new team, the expectations are high. While the drama isn’t there like the Isaiah Thomas issue with the Boston Celtics and Phoenix Suns but it still is interesting.
The decision if the Bucks or 76ers made the right decision on this trade won’t be determined anytime soon but for one night, Carter-Williams can try to make the Sixers see what they missed out on.
