The once bright and promising career of point guard Michael Carter-Williams has lost a lot of its luster in recent years and it continues to trend that way. Carter-Williams took home Rookie of the Year hardware in the 2013-14 NBA season but has since seen his impact reduced, largely due to instability.
The 25-year-old Carter-Williams played last season for the Chicago Bulls where he really saw his production drop after being traded by the Milwaukee Bucks. However, this summer has marked a new beginning for Carter-Williams as he joined his 4th team in five years when he inked a one-year deal with the Charlotte Hornets.
Though the season currently sits over a month away, MCW may have to wait to make his Hornets debut due to a recent knee procedure he had in August according to head coach Steve Clifford. Following from Rick Bonnell of The Charlotte Observer:
.@hornets update: Michael Carter-Williams had a knee procedure in August and is not yet back on the court (more)…

Steve Clifford says it is not a given MCW will be ready for the season-opener.

For a player who has been largely derailed by injuries, this isn’t a good start to his career in Charlotte for Michael Carter-Williams. When healthy, Carter-Williams has shown flashes of brilliance, especially earlier on but staying healthy and the inability to develop a consistent jump shot have plagued his professional career.
MCW was expected to come in and serve as a solid backup point guard to All-star Kemba Walker but if his knee isn’t ready to go by the start of the season, expect second-year man Marcus Paige to get the majority of those minutes.
