Former Rookie of the Year Michael Carter-Williams hit free agency after the Chicago Bulls let him walk without any offer. Within the first day of his availability to the open market, he agreed to a deal with a team looking for a backup point guard. The Charlotte Hornets signed MCW to a deal.
Jeff Goodman and Chris B. Haynes of ESPN have more information on the MCW deal.

MCW heads to the Hornets on a cheap contract but he doesn’t really add much to their main issue, lack of shooting. Charlotte might be looking to hone in defensively and try to win games that way and work more with the strength of head coach Steve Clifford.
For Carter-Williams, this could be his last chance to make an impact in the NBA. It’s going to be his fourth team in four seasons and the interest in him as a player has dropped dramatically since his first year in the league.
