The Los Angeles Lakers off season has been quite the let down. From the possibility to adding a superstar in free agency to making the additions of Jeremy Lin and Carlos Boozer, no offense to those players but obviously you’ll take Carmelo or LeBron over those two anyday. The Lakers though may have found themselves a possible diamond in the rough. On Tuesday Small Forward Michael Beasley worked out for The Lakers, and nothing is set in stone as of right now. Beasley certainly has been a disappointment since being draft #2 overall back in 2008. This might be the best situation for Beasley since maturity has been a factor in his career, and The Lakers clearly have one of the hardest working players in The NBA (I think we all know who that is).
Although I think the whole mentor role is somewhat overrated, I think this is one of the few times it could work out. Kobe Bryant’s work ethic could show Beasley a thing or two and guarding him in practice will certainly help his growth. There’s no doubt Beasley can score in many different ways, but it’s a matter of him finding his fit on a roster and that could very well be on The Lakers. As of right now though nothings happening for either side, but The Lakers could nab themselves a steal in free agency if they do take a chance on Beasley.
