Michael B.ae Jordan is covering this months issue of DuJour Magazine and he gives a candid interview on everything.
The 28-year-old, actor talks about getting used to his new found stardom [although he’s been in the business for years], his parents being his relationship role models, Fantastic Four, and what Bill Cosby taught him about perseverance and dedication!
Check out some of our favorite excerpts below:
On his new found fame and seeing himself on billboards:
“It was me, right there on a bus stop! It was the coolest sh*t ever. It was like wow… that’s pretty f*cking cool.”
On how his fans see him as the “good guy” based off of his roles:
“It’s so weird, people think they know me based on my character, and I’ve played some pretty good guys. I think I’m a good guy, but I have my moments—I’m not a saint at all.”
On Bill Cosby teaching him about dedication at 12 years old:
He commanded that set; that was his show. He demanded a professionalism from everyone. [I remember this one time] he gave me a tick. Jordan says. “[He said], ‘You care about YOUR hair. You love your hair. You brush your hair nonstop all day. That’s what you do.’ And I was like ‘alright, got it.’ So I brushed my hair. And you’re shooting this thing for hours. Imagine brushing your hair until your scalp is raw.
On his parents being his relationship role models and his thoughts on marriage:
“My family environment growing up is very much what I want eventually. It gives me hope and a longing for something more than the surface kind of relationships that you have so much. I always use them as a gauge. They were 28 or 29 when they got married. So I have a year… But unless something dramatic goes down, I don’t see that happening.”
On success and how people change after a taste of success:
“People say you change when you get successful. But that’s not really how it works. I think when you start getting successful, people assume that you’re going to be different, so they change. So you’re in this weird place where you’re trying to convince someone that knows you that you’re still the same. It’s like, why do I have to do that?”
