Miami native Trina was honored in her hometown over the weekend as Mayor Francis Suarez honored her with a key to the city. In addition, Suarez’s office renamed May 14, 2022 as the first-ever “Trina Day.”
“I’m super grateful, super humbled by the opportunity,” Trina told the Miami Herald.
“This is where it all started. All of this wouldn’t have happened without your support.”
Trina’s Miami, Florida roots run deep. She was raised in Liberty City and attended Miami Northwestern High School. Throughout her childhood, her father owned a store on 15th Avenue in Miami, Florida. To this day, a mural of Trina sits on the side of the building where the store once called home.
“Around here, Trina is the queen,” muralist Cory Evans told the Miami Herald.
“To have my art connected with her and be a part of Trina Day, I was happy.”
