I swear me and the Heat are just in sync. Well we aren’t because they shipped Shabazz Napier who I liked. But this will make it all better in my mind. Mario Chalmers, is officially mediocre. I mean we assumed that he was alright, just didn’t get the chance to flourish because of LeBron and others taking the reigns. But Norris Cole is gone, Dwyane Wade was out. And it is clear that Chalmers is so below average it’s frankly frustrating to watch.
And it seems that the Heat want him gone as well. But only because they want to lose their luxury tax.
Based on everything I’ve heard from NBA people, the Heat would like nothing more than to offload Chalmers’ luxury-tax hit, let alone get something in return.
Chalmers’ expiring contract figures to have value to any team needing a one-year stopgap option at point guard.
In the end, if the Heat truly want to move Chalmers, they’ll find a way. But there also is no rush, with the luxury-tax bill not computed until season’s end.
That’s right Miami, act like he’s a well respected member and you want nothing more than having him. Use the luxury tax as a scapegoat. I have been done with Chalmers for years now. If only the Pelicans took both Chalmers and Norris. Then I wouldn’t have to shake my head whenever I look at the starting five going “I thought this was the point guard era?”. Clearly the pool is a small one if the Heat can’t get a point guard that can pass.
