Aha! I knew the Heat were good candidates for Joe Johnson. Ever since Joe Johnson said a week or so ago that he’d likely want to go to Cleveland. We all know what’s up. The Miami Heat is what’s up!
Multiple reports are saying that the Miami Heat have replaced the Cavs as favourites for Joe Johnson. But now ESPNs Zach Lowe is locking it down, saying that he’ll be a Heat player by the end of the weekend.
The Heat expect to sign Joe Johnson today or this weekend, sources say.

Note: Joe Johnson to the Heat isn’t finalized, + cannot be until he clears waivers this weekend. But that is expected landing spot as of now

Now let me tell you why this is good for both parties. Disclaimer, if he did end up with the Cavs I wouldn’t have hated, simply because they’re the best in the Eastern Conference. Of course you’d consider them.
The Heat are just above the middle of pack that includes the Detroit Pistons, Chicago Bulls and those teams. They’re certainly under Cleveland and Toronto. Which means that they’re a solid 3 to 6th seed in the Eastern Conference. Can we all agree on that? Now if Joe Johnson took his talents to South Beach, I will confidently say that they’re top 3.
He can take some of Dwyane Wade’s minutes if Wade needs a game or two off, they have two roster spots available which is good. Beno Udrih might possibly be waived since he’s out for the season. Joe Johnson can easily shift into there and do what he does.
The Heat need shooting and JJ can still get his own shot. He’s still clutch which is valuable for any team. It’s a perfect marriage. Johnson gets minutes and knows that he can make the Heat better. And the Heat get shooting and a veteran who can still ball out. Where is the downside here?
