The Miami Heat are going to go over the luxury tax, that’s a given. If they want Wade and Dragic AND give Hassan Whiteside an extension next season. They’ll be suffering some luxury tax for the next couple of years. At least they aren’t the Brooklyn Nets am I right?
Subtle shot aside, the Heat got some work to do. They clearly need to unload some guys. According to Ramona Shelburne and Brian Windhorst of ESPN.com, the Heat have reportedly put Chris Andersen and Mario Chalmers on the trading block.
According to multiple league sources, the Heat are attempting to trade guard Mario Chalmers and big man Chris Andersen to help free up some salary.
Now Andersen and Chalmers are due $5 Million and $4.3 Million respectively. That’s nearly $10 Million in cap, that can get the Heat two players that can produce or maybe even one great talent. Either way, they need to shed some weight.
Personally I like Andersen, he still does great work coming off the bench and also produces a couple of highlight dunks which everybody loves. Chalmers on the other hand, has been useless since 2012. The only two games where he was good. The game against Sacramento where he dropped 10 threes and Game 2 of the 2013 Finals where he led all scorers to tie the series 1-1. Other than that, he has been one of the most underwhelming players I have watched and I can’t deal with him anymore.
