Leonard, 24, was a restricted free agent this summer. He saw his minutes and production increase this past season until he was ruled out for the season in April due to shoulder surgery. He found himself as part of the Trail Blazers deep young core, just missing their trip to the postseason as the sixth seed in the Western Conference. As a mobile and versatile 7-footer, Leonard adds toughness but also skill to the front court.
Portland has fortified their front court a bit by adding Festus Ezeli. He joins Mason Plumlee, the still developing Noah Voneh, and now Meyes Leonard in a still very deep front line for the Trail Blazers.
In 61 games played, Leonard averaged 8.4 points and 5.1 rebounds per game.
