The Metta World Peace experience will continue into the regular season. On the last day of roster cuts, the Lakers, who had 16 players on the roster, have decided to part ways with second year player Jabari Brown, meaning World Peace has survived roster cuts.
The Los Angeles Lakers are waiving guard Jabari Brown, allowing Metta World Peace to make 15-man roster, league sources tell Yahoo.

World Peace, who won a championship with the Lakers in 2010, has recently played in both China and Italy. Having spent most of the summer working out in LA, including with Lakers’ sophomore Julius Randle, World Peace was linked with the team all offseason. Although the training camp invite seemed more of a step towards a job as an assistant coach, it appears that he was able to beat out a younger player in Brown in order to secure a roster spot.
MWP will likely not get much playing time during regular season games, sitting behind the likes of Kobe Bryant, Nick Young, Lou Williams, and Jordan Clarkson in the Lakers’ wing rotation. However, his veteran leadership and defensive knowledge can be of great use for the Lakers and their young core. That is presumably the reason the Lakers were willing to give Peace another chance.
